Leaders from around the globe have offered their condolences and paid tribute to Pope Francis, acknowledging his dedication to the world’s most vulnerable individuals.
French President Emmanuel Macron, for instance, praised the Pope for consistently advocating for those most in need, particularly during times of war and brutality.
Similarly, Friedrich Merz, Germany’s chancellor-in-waiting, commended the Pope for his unswerving commitment to society’s weakest members.
Merz highlighted the Pope’s humility and faith in God’s mercy as guiding principles throughout his papacy.
Israel’s President, Isaac Herzog, also expressed his condolences, recognizing Pope Francis as a man of deep faith, peace, and compassion who nurtured relationships with the Jewish world.
Herzog praised the Pope’s dedication to uplifting the poor and advocating for peace in a troubled world. He expressed hope that the Pope’s prayers for peace in the Middle East and the safe return of hostages in Gaza would soon be answered.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof also paid tribute to Pope Francis, describing him as a man of the people in every sense.
Schoof commended the Pope for his recognition of the pressing issues of our time, his simple lifestyle, acts of service, and compassion.
He noted that Pope Francis served as a role model for many, both Catholics and non-Catholics, and would be remembered with great respect.
